Tuesday night, the Home Theater Forum hosted their annual live chat with Warners Home Video representatives, giving fans a chance to ask anything related to upcoming Warners video releases. I only happened to stumble upon this announcement last night after the chat was already underway, but since my interests lie with some of WB’s animation releases (Looney Tunes Golden Collections), I decided to attend the last hour and a half. I accessed the chat through a web page but the technology underneath it was an IRC channel and it really brought me back to the days before Instant Messaging hit the big time on the internet. Before Instant Messaging, there was….IRC. Click To Read More...

Writing Copyable C++ Classes
Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005I thought I’d jot down some notes on what I do when designing new classes in C++ to be copyable. I’d be curious to get some feedback as I’m not sure what the C++ community at large does… Click To Read More...
My Life is Not Shit, It is The Shit
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005Someone in my family caught a bad cold bug so Joshua and I have been sick since Sunday morning. That kind of achy, stuffy, slimy, sniffling type of cold where it feels like your head is going to explode and you would tear out your sore throat and stomp on it for a few hours if your muscles and joints didn’t ache so much. It’s been awhile since I’ve been sick, so I’ve forgotten how much it really and truly sucks. Click To Read More...

Happy Birthday, Schiller Twins!
Wednesday, March 16th, 2005Just wanted to mention that yesterday was Joshua and Jacob’s one year birthday. We celebrated with a little cake, some balloons, some singing, and some picture-taking. We had already let them open their gifts before I had left for San Francisco as we are too impatient. We also stopped over to the neighbors houses (one of them had brought over a cake) to let them know they’re welcome to stop by, hopefully we’ll have one of them over on the weekend. They have a 8-month old son named Johnny.
It’s amazing to think one full year has passed. Last year at this time I was still trying wrap my mind around what had happened the day before and what it meant for the rest of my life. I also remember walking my wife to the hospital bathroom and her being in a lot of pain (the boys were delivered through a scheduled C-section). I also distinctly remember changing Joshua’s diaper for the first time…think “Play-Doh Fun Factory”:

Anyway, boys, if either one of you are reading this, I just want to take this opportunity to say how happy and grateful your mother and I are that you came into our lives. We may be tired right now, but we consider ourselves very blessed.
GDC: Post Mortem
Wednesday, March 16th, 2005I thought I’d post some of my thoughts on the GDC 2005 experience that Rob Russell and I had after having a few days to acclimatize myself to the still-shitty Chicago weather and the still-shitty job. Click To Read More...
